I plan on becoming an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the ER for some time and then travel abroad with Doctors without Borders or NGOs to do some public health work. I too plan one day to pass on this blessing of a scholarship to another woman who also needs someone to believe in her.”
The American Dream
What I most love about my Mason experience is the diversity, because it teaches me that the world is so much bigger than that of what I know – and the environment here continuously gets me to meet various people of different cultures. To respect all our differences in an ever-changing world, it’s important we get to understand each other and I feel Mason has given me the best outlet for that experience. This school has given me the blessing of being able to travel abroad and get quality education to become a nurse. I can happily say I am living the American dream because of Mason.
The Essence of an Education
I love how the topics learned in my nursing classes are truly applicable to our clinical experiences. In nursing school, things begin to truly connect class and real life, and perhaps that is the true essence of education: to use what you learn.
Someone Believes in Me
I’ve worked since high school to help alleviate my family's financial struggles and for once in my life I wanted to invest in myself. The idea of being in heavy debt coming right out of college was just too much to bear as someone who is already financially supporting my family, and the scholarship funding I’ve received has improved my Mason experience in more ways than I could’ve dreamed. Now that I’ve received these scholarships, I know someone else believes in me. And what a feeling that is.
A Future in Nursing
I plan on becoming an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the ER for some time and then traveling abroad with Doctors without Borders or NGOs to do public health work. Then I want to perhaps teach nursing to a new generation of students.

If I could meet my scholarship donors, I would say thank you for investing in my future. You have given this first-generation woman an opportunity to strive for her dreams without limitations. I was able to study without fear I couldn’t pay for tuition and travel abroad to Peru to work at a health clinic. Both life experiences truly have made me a better student and person. I want my donors to know that I will get my BSN degree and I will pass my NCLEX exam because of the trust and belief you all have put in me. Please know with the blessings you have shared with me; I too plan one day to pass on that blessing to another woman who also needs someone to believe in her.
