Public Notice of CCNE Accreditation Visit

December 19, 2023

George Mason University School of Nursing is seeking accreditation of our BSN, MSN, Post-Graduate APRN Certificate and Doctor of Nursing Practice DNP programs by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The CCNE site visitors will be on campus from March 6-8, 2024.

In accordance with the CCNE procedures for accreditation, the Commission provides the opportunity for program constituents (students, faculty, alumni, and community stakeholders) to submit, in writing, third-party comments concerning a program’s qualifications for accreditation status. Written third-party comments will be received by CCNE until 21 days before the scheduled on-site evaluation. Third-party comments must be received at the CCNE offices by February 14, 2024, and must be signed. Comments are shared only with the School’s CCNE evaluation team appointed to review the baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs but at no time during the review process are these comments shared with the program.

All comments should be emailed directly to thirdpartycomments@ccneaccreditation.org.

The School of Nursing prepares students for interdisciplinary roles as clinicians, educators, researchers, and administrators. Our students learn to address the challenges of a rapidly changing and diverse healthcare environment with hands-on experience in local healthcare agencies, community and public healthcare settings, private practice providers, and in our simulation and skills labs.

Through experience working with diverse patient populations in the northern Virginia area, our graduates develop the necessary skills to deliver health care where it’s needed the most. Our mission is to contribute to the health of all populations through innovative and impactful nursing education, research, practice, and service.
